Founded in 2022 by Abdelkarim Houari and Andreas Veeckman, Tovenaar is dedicated to transforming magical dreams into captivating gaming experiences. The name 'Tovenaar', Dutch for wizard, evokes a wise and powerful character, reflecting our mission to transport players to new realms of imagination.

Our journey began with a passion project that evolved into our debut title, BattleSage. Conceived by Abdelkarim Houari as a labor of love during after-hours tinkering back in 2016, BattleSage has become the centerpiece of our studio's vision. This flying action-adventure game captures the dream of flight, allowing players to embody a young wizard and freely explore a magical world.

Securing support from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) enabled us to realize our ambitions. Our team, which has grown to six dedicated members since 2023, collaborates closely with talented freelancers specializing in story and concept art. This collective effort infuses our projects with depth and creativity. In the very near future we will recruit two additional members to grow to our final size for our current project.
